LOCATION
Nicaragua is located in the heart of Central America, bordered by Honduras to the north, Costa Rica to the south, the Atlantic Ocean (Caribbean Sea) to the east, and the Pacific Ocean to the west. The Pacific coast is 352 Kilometres in length and the Atlantic coast541 km. Nicaragua has two larges lakes, which cover an area of 10,333 km² in the Pacific zone of the country.
Nicaragua covers an area of 130,682 Km² (49,759 miles), making it the largest country in Central America.
Nicaragua has a diverse climate, due to the mountain range which runs diagonally through Central America from northwest to southeast. The climate is tropical and dry along the Pacific coast, in the mountain area, and humid in the Caribbean area. The average annual temperature and rainfall is 27ºC and 1,300 mm., respectively.
Two seasons exists: the rainy season (winter), from May to November, and the dry season (summer), from December to May.

Nicaragua, Paraíso perdido en las Américas

Nicaragua, estado centroamericano ubicado geográficamente en el centro de las América ha sido por decadas uno de los mejores atractivos turisticos que muy poca gente conoce.
Dentro del lago de Nicaragua ó Cocibolca se encuentra una isla, que es la más grande isla situada dentro de un lago de agua dulce en el mundo. Ometepe, nombre por el cual se le conoce es la Isla bendita por Dios en la que nuestro creador formo en ella dos volcanes activos el más alto tiene 1.600 metros: el Madera y el Concepción.
El nombre de Ometepe es de origen Azteco y significa Ome=Dos e Tepelth=colins debido a las montañas formadas por los dos volcanes que determinan la característica forma similar al número 8. Su superficie es alredodor de 270 kilometros cuadrados y en la isla viven más o menos 35.000 personas, la mayoria se dedican a la agricultura, en particular en el cultivo del platano.
Para llegar a la isla de Ometepe se puede tomar el barco en Granada y después de 4 horas se llega a Altagracia municipio de la isla ó por del Departamento de Rivas, exactamente en el municipio de San Jorge, allí se puede tomar el barco para llegar a la Isla en un transito de una hora de navegación atracando en el municipio de Moyogalpa.
Hay embarcaciones pequeñas de madera que llevan solamente personas y ferry boat que puede llevar tambien carros y camiones.
En la Isla de Ometepe hay muchas cosas que merecen ser vistas y hay muchas maneras de poder apreciarlas; se pueden hacer recorridos en autobus, en automóbiles, a caballo, en bicicleta y a pie. En particular se pueden hacer caminatas y excursiones en las laderas de los dos volcanes llegando a lagunas que se formaron dentro de los crateres apagados.
Existen grandes variedades de especies animales y vegetales, entre las cuales algunas son Originales del lugar. Encontraremos allí también lugares de intereses arqueológicos que datan de más de 2000 años de antiguedad.
Otro de los puntos de interes turísticos son las isletas de Granada, misma que estan siendo sometidas a ser reconocidas como una de las maravillas naturales del mundo
